As far as dentures go, there's not too many options as far as the final restoration if we're going the route of removable dentures that are non-implant supported. There are many options if implants are going to be involved. Depending on the number of implants that are used, we could take those traditional conventional dentures and convert them to something non-removable and fixed, that will really help the patient with their speech and with their chewing. So, really as far as using dentures, there's not too many options, but once implants are considered, then multiple options are available.
So we have patients ask us all the time, "I hate my teeth. Can I have dentures? Or, "I want implants." And I tell patients, "As long as there's nothing wrong with your teeth, you have to keep them. There's nothing like your own set of teeth. Even though implants are great and they are life-changing, there's nothing like having your own teeth." So, if the patient has their own teeth, you know, we tell them there's options. We can do some cosmetic work, we can do some veneers, maybe some Invisalign, but we never recommend extractions and implants for no reason. Like I said, having your own teeth, you can taste your food, your speech is normal, patients are much more comfortable with their teeth. So we never recommend implants or dentures unless it's necessary.
