New patient Mindy Egan avoided dentistry for years due to dental phobia from a past experience. In Dr. Malki's New Jersey office, she says she's found "a gem" and refers to Dr. Malki as her hero. Ms. Egan wants to increase her social confidence by improving her smile, and Dr. Malki is helping her to do just that.

Mindy: My name is Mindy; I'm a new patient of Dr. Malki. I've been
here . . . this is my fifth time coming here. It was a big
transition coming here. I have a total fear of dentistry and
getting my teeth done. I had bad experiences when I was younger.
I do like to talk to people. I like to socialize and my teeth
were holding me back in able to do those things; to be able to
smile. I love to smile and I love to laugh, and I'm not able to
until I get everything done that I want to do. From the bottom
of my heart, to have somebody on your side and to give you the
confidence and the feeling that it's going to be okay, to tap
you on the shoulder, "It's going to be okay," and to hug you
when you leave and say, "We'll see you later." More of a friend
than a dentist; it's a 1-to-1 relationship where he decides for
you what is best for you.
He decides to see what he can do, what is possible. He'll be
truthful. He'll be honest. He'll let you know. He'll work with
you in any which way that he can. He's a gem and I can't really
say a lot more about him. It's not like we socialize and have
dinner together, but on a 1-to-1 relationship as far as being my
dentist, he is my hero.
