Once that thin layer is removed, we then take an impression of the teeth. From that impression, the laboratory then fabricates a stone model of the teeth, and off that stone model, they create the porcelain veneers. Another very important advancement in dentistry has been the CEREC. The CEREC is an in-office CADCAM milling machine, which means it now allows us to create crowns or caps, which is this same, in the office, all in one visit. We design the crown on a computer. Once the crown has been designed on the computer, it's then sent off to a special machine. That machine then cuts the porcelain and creates the crown for the patient.
